2.) If music critics are worried that pop videos are becoming necessary to enhance a musician's career, why are they not concerned about the impact this has on emerging artists?

It creates popularity for the artist and as the artist is already famous and successful, they have plenty of money to use for locations, sets, a wide variety of promotions and hire extras/dancers. Emerging artists are limited to promotion (They have Youtube, Twitter, Myspace etc) and are limited to make videos that don't look professional and rich like those in popular music videos as they themselves have to buy their own equipment and find the time to create the videos and get a group together to create it and also balance their work life so they have money to support themselves.

3.) What is the primary purpose of the pop video?

To entertain, it gives influence on fashion, gives ideas to those who are looking for inspiration and to become more popular and promote the Song/Album/Artist and aim for the top of charts to boost their popularity and success. Their is also dominance over other artists and the industry are competitive, the artists and their producers want them to be the best and so thinking to new and creative ideas and coming up with songs that people will sing along to and love is a challenge as well as keeping their own style and themes but also developing as a person with their music and exploring more than just their familiar ground, experimenting with new ideas and sounds. The music video as to be catchy and interesting, it as to be where the view as to watch the video all the way through and be memorable, where others can show their friends and they watch it together. The video might have an important narrative which can be related to current events/affairs at the time as well as the audience being able to relate to the narrative themselves, which makes the video more powerful when it can reach into the audience's hearts.

4.) How have the public come to react to the videos themselves?

They have their own opinion, those who like a certain genre will like that and go and listen to songs in that genre, but others not so much. We are constantly looking for something different. For example Lady Gaga, she came onto our screens with a completely different look, she wore strange outfits, her scenes where creative and random and she had similar themes and styles in her videos. In a recent blog on Project Inspired Lady Gaga is being discussed on her messages in the videos relating to religious beliefs. See link below

http://www.projectinspired.com/what-you-need-to-know-lady-gaga-and-her-satanic-message/

Within the article it explains how her recent video "You and I" is "Worse than ever" this indicates the Lady Gaga is going down in peoples interest, that she over does things and might be running out of ideas.

Before videos where able to be downloaded they could be bought. Now you have the music video that comes with a DVD of a tour/live performance at a venue with behind the scenes footage and the audio CD of the live performance.
